Southside's most celebrated literary association is with Axel Munthe, whose inspirational book THE STORY OF SAN MICHELE was a publishing sensation in the 1920s, even at one point outselling the Bible. Since then it has been in constant print, translated into 25 languages, and is available for sale at the house Adam Munthe, Malcom's son and current head of the family - also a published author - recently completed the first of several planned Arctic expeditions in which he observed at first hand the life and culture of the Sami people - THE FINNMARK 2007 EXPEDITION - of this fascinating adventure for sale at the house Axel's son Malcom Munthe was also a writer of note, and wrote extensively of his World War Two experiences.
